This private applicator category is for those who will be applying restricted-use pesticides to fruit or nut crops on land that they or their employer owns and operates. Getting certified in this category does not allow for applications to row crops, greenhouses, or nurseries.
Notice: In recent years, the EPA updated federal rules on who can use restricted-use pesticides (RUPs), setting a minimum age of 18. To be compliant with federal standards, Wisconsin updated state regulations in ATCP 29. As of July 1st, 2026, anyone seeking certification and/or licensing must meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
